Expert Solution
Step 1

Fossil fuels are the natural fuels which are formed by the anaerobic decomposition of the buried dead organisms which contains organic molecules and these releases energy in combustion.

These buried organisms which results in the fossil fuels have an age of millions of age.

Fossil fuels are considered as conventional energy resources because fossil fuels are those organic compounds which are created by the decomposition of remains of the plants and animals which over time results in the formation of coal, natural gas and petroleum.

These are the conventional sources because there are the extremely vast underground reserves present in the U.S.

To increase the life of fossil fuels we need to shift our fuels requirements from fossil fuels to the renewable sources of energy. As fossil fuels renew after millions of years and increasing needs of the increasing population can't be fulfilled by the fossil fuels and if the use of fossil fuels go on this rate, then fossil fuel will exhaust soon, So, for the sustainable use of the resources it is the need of time to shift from natural resources to the renewable resources.

So, by this shifting towards the renewable resources we can increase the life of the fossil fuels.

To shift from fossil fuels to these sustainable sources following steps could be taken:-

  • Carbon pricing should be done.
  • Increased usage of energy from solar sources and wind resources.
  • Practice conservation at domestic level by conserving electricity at home.
  • Use alternate transportation.
  • Always perform a home energy audit.
