cell body/soma/perikaryon: metabolic center of the nerve, consisting of all cytosolic organelles. It is the site of protein synthesis.
Multiple projections from the cell body are dendrites. Dendrites are the input or receiving part of the nerve.
The large conical part from the cell body is the Axon hillock from which the long cylindrical tube-like region the Axon originates.
Axon through initial segment linked to Axon hillock.
The very small region between the initial segment and the Axon hillock is the trigger zone. A site where the action potential is generated.
The Axon terminates at a knob-like region called the Axon terminal.
