Here, we are looking at births, and a birth could be either a boy or a girl.

So, we would expect that the number of births that are girls would be approximately half of the total amount i.e.,  there's approximately a 50% chance of having a birth of a girl. 

Based on the assumption we made, we would expect about half of the 1500 births to be girls. In other words, we would expect that on average 750 would be boys and 750 would be girls.

In this instance, 760 were girls, which is very close to 750 (half of 1500).
