Step 1

Systemic vascular resistance (SVR) is the resistance in the circulatory system which is used to make blood pressure, blood  flow and a component of cardiac function. When blood vessels constrict, then there is an increase in SVR.

Hypotension is associated with shock and there are four types. Hypovolemic shock is a shock which is due to an excessive loss of blood results in decreased cardiac output and increased SVR, as the body maintain the blood pressure. 

Hypovolemia is also called as volume depletion or contraction of volume. It is a low extracellular fluid in the body. This can be either due to a loss of both the salt and water or a decrease in the volume of blood.

Hypovolemia causes vomiting, diarrhoea and excessive bleeding. This results in shock, life-threatening situation in which the organs are not getting enough oxygen in blood. Symptoms of hypovolemia are weakness, fatigue, faint and dizziness.
