Look at the following solution to this sig fig  problem and tell me what I have done wrong.  Then show me the correct and best way to solve this problem.

Note: Use de rule addition/subtraction.

ADDITION/SUBTRACTION:  You must show the least degree of precision even if your calculator does not

      245.956 g – 245.756 g = 0.2 g according to your calculator.  But your degree of precision is the 0.001 g and so your correct answer is 0.200 g

      23.789 g + 81.211 g = 105 g according to your calculator.       But your degree of precision is the 0.001 g and so your correct answer is 105.000 g

 

The degree of precision is not necessarily about the number of places behind the decimal point.  In these examples consider ambiguous zeros to be non significant

    4500 m + 21 m = 4521 m according to your calculator.  But your degree of precision is the 100’s place and so your correct answer is 4500 m

    90 cm + 45.21 cm = 135.21 cm according to your calculator.  But your degree of precision is the 10’s place so your correct answer is 140 cm

The question:

Add the following quantities:    4.05 kg + 567.95 g + 100.1 g

My solution:

4.05 + 567.95 + 100.1 = 672.1
