Expert Solution
Step 1

a) Given : Concentration of acetic acid i.e HC2H3O2 taken = 0.10 M

Volume of HC2H3O2 solution taken = 35 mL

And volume of water added = 15 mL

=> Volume of final solution = volume of initial HC2H3O2 solution + volume of water added = 35 + 15 = 50 mL

Since only water is being added in the solution. Hence moles of HC2H3O2 present will be same in initial and final solution.

=> Moles of HC2H3O2 in initial solution = moles of HC2H3O2 in final solution

Since moles = concentration X volume of solution

=> Concentration of initial solution X volume of initial solution = concentration of final solution X volume of final solution

=> 0.10 X 35 = concentration of final solution X 50

=> concentration of final HC2H3O2 solution = 0.07 M
