pls answer, d-f only
Situation#1.
A W40 x 298 column is 9m long and is braced at the top and bottom against sidesway in both the xx and yy planes of
the column cross section. Assume that the material is elastic and has a modulus of elasticity, E=200,00MPA.
Use rx = 9.81in. and ry = 4.3in. Determine the governing slenderness ratio, for the following support conditions:
a. Fixed at both ends about both axes.
b. Pinned about both axes at the top; pinned about the major axis and fixed about the minor axis at
the base.
c. Fixed at both ends about both axes and laterally supported perpendicular to the strong axis at
midheight.
d. Pinned at both ends about both axes and laterally supported perpendicular to the weak axis at a
height 4m from the base.
e. Pinned about both axes at the top; fixed about the major axis and pinned about the minor axis at
the base; and laterally supported parallel to the weak axis at a height 4.5m from the base.
f. Free at the top at both axes and pinned about the major axis and fixed about the minor axis at the
base. (neglect the braces at the top)
