Expert Solution
Step 1

We have given information,

A survey of US adults founds that 35% say their favorite sports is football.

i.e. p=0.35

Selected randomly 150 adults.

i.e. n=150

This is a binomial distribution, because it satisfies the following necessary conditions of the binomial distribution,

  • The sample size is finite (fixed).
  • The number of trials are independent.
  • The probability is constant for each trial.
  • The outcomes of the trials are  exhaustive ( their favorite sport is football or not).

Therefore the random variable follows binomial distribution with parameter n=150 and p=0.35.

Symbolically written as X~Bn=150, p=0.35
