Expert Solution
Step 1

The heliocentric and the geocentric models for the Solar system are basically models that describe the structure of our solar system.

The geocentric model, which was proposed by Aristotle was modelled by considering the earth to be the center of the entire universe.

The Sun, moon and all other planets were believed to revolve around the earth in their respective orbits.

This model was based on purely observational data, since it always looked like all the planets including the Sun orbit around the earth, as the moon and the Sun both seem to move around in the sky.

But the earth always seemed stationary for an observer on earth. So it was good to assume that the earth was stationary and that all other celestial bodies in the entire universe revolved around the earth.
