A glass soda bottle is emptied of soda and filled to the very top with water. A cork is carefully fitted into the top of the bottle, leaving no air between the cork and the water. (Figure 1) The top of the bottle has a diameter of Dtop = 2.00 cm and the bottom of the bottle has a diameter of Dot = 6.50 cm. Part A What is the force that her fist exerts on the top of the bottle? A student hits the cork sharply with her fist and the bottom of the bottle breaks. The student's fist has a mass of m = 0.480 kg and moves downward at a speed of v, = 5.00 m/s.It collides elastically with the cork and rebounds with the same speed. The collision lasts for t = 1.20x10 s. In this problem, the positive direction is upward. Express your answer in newtons to three significant figures. • View Available Hint(s) Submit Figure 1 of 1> Part B Complete previous part(s) Part C Complete previous part(s) Diameter of the top = 2.0 cm Cork Provide Feedback Diameter of the bottom = 6.5 cm Water, filled to the cork
Fluid Pressure
The term fluid pressure is coined as, the measurement of the force per unit area of a given surface of a closed container. It is a branch of physics that helps to study the properties of fluid under various conditions of force.
Gauge Pressure
Pressure is the physical force acting per unit area on a body; the applied force is perpendicular to the surface of the object per unit area. The air around us at sea level exerts a pressure (atmospheric pressure) of about 14.7 psi but this doesn’t seem to bother anyone as the bodily fluids are constantly pushing outwards with the same force but if one swims down into the ocean a few feet below the surface one can notice the difference, there is increased pressure on the eardrum, this is due to an increase in hydrostatic pressure.
