Expert Solution
Step 1

The internal organs or viscera are present in the cavities of body.

The ventral and dorsal are the two main cavities present in the body.

The thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities are the two subdivisions of the ventral cavity. The heart, lungs, trachea, esophagus, large blood vessels and nerves are present in the thoracic cavity. The abdominopelvic cavity is also divided into abdominal and pelvic cavities. The kidneys, adrenal gland and most of gastrointestinal tract is present in the abdominal cavity. The urogenital system and rectum is present in the pelvic cavity.

The dorsal cavity is smaller than the central cavity. It's divided into cranial cavity containing the brain and vertebral cavity containing the spinal cord.
