For the shown strut-and-tie model it is assumed that horizontal and vertical confinement reinforcement will be provided to justify using Bs = 0.75 for inclined struts (horizontal reinforcement is #10 @ 12 in. on each face while vertical reinforcement is #5 @10 inches 2 legged stirrups). Including the weight of the beam, check the strength of the struts, and design reinforcement for the bottom tension tie. Use normal-weight concrete with f'c = 5000 psi and use fy = 60 ksi.
