Heart is a derived from mesodermal layer of embryo , present in the thoracic cavity and tilted towards left. A serous membrane known as pericardial membrane surrounds the heart and it is made up of outer fibrous layer and inner serous double layer. The inner serous layer is visceral layer and outer one is parietal layer. the space between these layer is known as pericardial space and filled with pericardial fluid. The muscles of the heart consist of epicardium(visceral layer), myocardium and endocardium.
Arteries are blood vessels carrying oxygenated blood from the heart to various body parts, except pulmonary artery. These have thick walls which helps in expansion during high pressure. Veins are blood vessels that carry blood to the heart. some veins also have valves in order to prevent back flow of the heart.
