6 LAB EXERCISE 1 Organization of the Body A 1 2 3 4 E. SURFACE REGIONS There are hundreds of terms that describe specific locations on the surface of the human body. These names are useful not only for identifying surface features but also for the underlying muscles, bones, nerves, and blood vessels. In this activity, locate regions named a few of the more common terms. I Locate the following surface regions on the anterior aspect of a human model and Figure 1-5: Abdominal-Area overlying the abdominal cavity Antebrachial-Forearm Axillary-Armpit Brachial-Upper arm Buccal-Cheek (side of mouth) FIGURE 1-4 A, Label on the lines provided and on the blanks in the Lab Report the nine regions of the abdominopelvic cavity. BODY SYSTEMS As you know, the human organism is composed of organ groups called systems. The organs of a system work together in an orga- nized manner to accomplish the function(s) of the system. As an introduction to human body systems, study Table 1-2. Each of the systems will be discussed in more detail later in this course.
