Heart is the primary organ of circulatory system. It pumps oxygenated blood to all parts of the body. In humans and other mammals, heart consists of four chambers, two auricles and two ventricles. The left and the right atria receive oxygenated blood from the lungs and deoxygenated blood from all parts of the body through venae cavae. The auricles push the blood to the ventricles. The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to all parts of the body through aorta and the right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs for oxygenation. The heart is located in the mediastinum which is the space between the lungs.
