Transcribed Image Text:2. VELOCITY CONTROL SYSTEM
with DC MOTOR
When operating a servo motor in a control system, we start
with a command value, eg, a particular speed which you
want the motor to maintain. The actual speed of the motor is
called the feedback (or actual) value. The feedback value sig-
nal comes from the encoder, which is mounted on the motor
shaft.

The brain of the system is the servo regulator, which collects
the feedback and command values and tries to keep the
differences between these signals to a minimum. We are now
going to study how the servo regulator in a velocity control
system has to be set and how its parameters P, I, and D affect
the rapidity, accuracy and stability of the system.
