Expert Solution
Step 1

Fecal transplantation, also known as fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) or bacteriotherapy is a procedure of collecting healthy bacteria (microbiota) from the feces of a healthy donor and transferring them to the colon of the recipient. This procedure is mostly performed by colonoscopy, however, it can also be performed by upper endoscopy. FMT is mainly done to treat persistent infections caused by 'bad' bacteria.
