The cells are the basic biological unit of life. The cells which perform similar kinds of functions come together to form body tissues. There are over two hundred distinct cell types which are involved in tissue formation. These tissues then come together to give rise to various organs. The tissues present in the human body are classified into four types: the epithelial tissue, the connective tissue, the muscle tissue, and the nervous tissue. Epithelial tissues act as coverings of the organs and control the movement of substances across the surface. Connective tissue is responsible for integrating with the various parts of the body and providing support and protection to organs. Muscle tissues are responsible for the movement of the body. Nervous tissues are responsible for transmission of nerve signals from the brain to other body parts.
