Firearms Type Brand Model Caliber Observations Ex. Handgun Walter PPQ 9mm Cuts to barrel and magazine release. Firearm #1 handgun olympic 38 BBM 45mm - 1 bullet is jammed in the barrel of the handgun, - White dust and debris is observed to be around the left side of the gun, and the barrel as well as the chamber itself Firearm #2 semi-autom atic N/A N/A 9mm - no brand or model attached too the gun, so clear sign thats its been scraped or removed off - Trigger and trigger guard is removed Based on your observations of Firearm #1 Can you determine if this firearm may have been
used in a homicide. Can you determine that the firearm has been altered in any way? If not, what other tests can you use with more time to help your forensic investigation? Not fully, due to the condition of the gun it's clearly older and clearly in most the best condition though further examining of the bullet found on scene and the gun could probably lead to seeing if the gun was connected with the homicide Based on your observations of Firearm #2 Can you determine if this firearm may have been used in a homicide. Can you determine that the firearm has been altered in any way? If not, what other tests can you use with more time to help your forensic investigation? You can't fully determine that the gun was used in a homicide, though you can prove that the gun has been altered in some way due to the fact that the serial code and model was removed from the gun in some way. Though the gun shows no major sign of alteration besides the missing serial codes and model.
