Sampling Distributions Lab Report Aliza Ali 2023-02-16 Here is a plot of a single sample, n=25, from a population with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 10: It has a mean of ## [1] 100.7057 and a standard deviation of ## [1] 7.099237 Here is a plot of the corresponding sampling distribution for 1000 experiments:
It’s standard deviation (i.e. the standard error) is: ## [1] 1.930265 Here is a plot of another sample from the same population, this one with n=100.: It has a mean of ## [1] 99.94273 and a standard deviation of ## [1] 9.129933 And here is the corresponding sampling distribution for 1000 experiments: Now the standard error) is: ## [1] 0.9838377 In both cases of n=25 and n=100 the mean was in between 99 and 101 and the standard deviation was in around 10. However, the standard errors were a bit different with the sampling distribution for n=100 being lower than the standard error for the sampling distribution of n=25. For n=25 the standard error was 1.93 and the standard error for n=100 was much lower with 0.98. The width of the sampling distribution for n=100 was much smaller than the width for the sampling distribution of n=25.
