Running head: Practical Connection Assignment Practical Connection Assignment Sruthi Balammagary University of Cumberland’s Infer Stats in Decision Making (DSRT-734) Dr. Christopher Phillips 08/14/2022
Practical Connection Assignment The course gave me a clear and precise introduction about the descriptive statistics and also gave me an opportunity to be hands on with the JASP statistical software. The concept of correlations was new to me, but I am able to compute the correlations and also predict scores on variables. I was also able to understand the differences between null and alternate hypothesis, also was able to calculate the t-tests. This course also gave me an opportunity to perform both qualitative and quantitative research on my dissertation topic for the future. It helped me collect the data which can be used for the hypothesis and also helped me gather all the research and findings which can be helpful for my future research on the dissertation topic. I also got to understand the importance of ANOVA tests and easily identify the dependent and independent variables. I also got to learn the importance of chi-square tests which helped me perform better testing and hypothesis. I also understood that the Chi-square test is used when you readymade data available and you compare the data which is expected to the data which is observed and come to a conclusion whether the null hypothesis is true or not. I also understood how to interpret and calculate the chi-square tests in this course. I also got to understand the importance of non-parametric tests and these can be used when the size of the data is small and when you are unsure of the population distribution as this will help in distributing the data evenly. With the help of Spearman correlation Hypothesis testing, I was able to learn how to perform the correlation test between two random variables. I was also able to estimate the strength and the relationship between two random variables with the help of this testing. Also, with the help of the paired t-tests, I came to understand how to compare the means of two test groups and come to a conclusion on the hypothesis. I also understood how the p-value is calculated and with the
Practical Connection Assignment probability you can also calculate the difference and came to a conclusion whether there is a relationship or not. This course would be very helpful for me in the future to study sample data and predict many results which can be helpful for business to thrive in the competitive world. People start believing statistics which help in taking the best decisions for the benefit of the company. This also helps in building the right relationships between data. We can infer a lot of relationships between data like any changes in sales and it also helps us understand what you can expect out of the data you are observing. It also helps in performing the right predictions and helps you understand the human tendency towards inferential data. This course helped me answer some of the questions which are powerful and unanswered and helped me avoid misinterpreted statistics (Pfleger & Kimmons, 2012).
