The 2020 pandemic made a drastic change on the world as we knew it. That was provisions, in place, safety, cautions vaccinations, and a lot of drama. Not only did the pandemic affect social life. It also affected the world of education. The pandemic caused schools to be closed, jobs to be lost and also the loss of life. In the world of education it made it extremely difficult for educators to teach their students without the fear of being sick. Therefore education had to turn to five different instructional delivery modalities. Each one of these modalities have their own effect on education. The first modality is fully land based; this is when all class time is spent inside of a school building. The second modality is blended which means all class time spent in a school building using a mixture of land-based technology and portable technology. The third modality is hybrid which demonstrates that half of class time is spent in a school building and the other half of class time spent in a virtual learning environment using portable technology.. The fourth modality is hyflex which means the student gets to decide: if they attend and complete work in a school building or if they want to complete that same work in a virtual learning environment.. The last modality is fully online which is all class time is spent in a virtual learning environment using portable technology. If I had my own classroom, I would like to use the hybrid modality. The reason being is because this grants the student the opportunity to work within the classroom as well as in a virtual learning environment. I feel that it is very important to have interaction within the classroom because you have students that learn better in person. Also in the virtual learning environment this will also teach the student about time management and responsibility. The chosen instructional modality will be extremely helpful for my potential students because it will raise their academic and social awareness. The reason is because within the school environment, you will be able to interact with the teacher and your peers. In the virtual learning environment, the student will have to develop the skills to communicate and interact through portable technology venues. Also by using virtual learning, if there is a student that has an exception they are still being included in the classroom discussion. Also, within the virtual learning environment, an ELL student will be able to translate the material of the lesson into their respective language. Traditional education will never return to the classroom, it will always be some form of modification.
