Kayla White 02/18/2024 CHLD 4 Dr. Sarah ShaBazz-Ugwumba Module 6 Observation Paper Assignment I have a wide range of experience with children. I have this experience because I worked in a daycare, have been to school as well as attended a daycare. Because of this, I've seen a snippet of each developmental stage with the children. For starters the Sensorimotor Stage, this stage is from birth to two years old. This is where children rely on their senses and motor skills to survive. During this stage, children also rely on their parents for basically everything. While observing in a classroom, I've witnessed the Preoperational Stage. This is the stage where children use symbols as references or a form of communication. I've seen children use things such as pencils and reference them as “airplanes”. I've also seen individuals make paper airplanes and reference them as such. I truly think this stage depends on how that specific child truly is. Next is the Concrete Operational stage. This stage is where the child basically has a new set of eyes. This is where the child develops a sense of “self”. I've seen this the most when
children are transitioning to middle school. A lot of things don't seem as “cool” as they used to anymore. The formal Operational stage is when the child is at the “teen” stage> I see this the most with kids entering high school. A lot of children just entering have the “I'm grown” mindset.
