CHCECE018 BERNA KILIC NURTURE CREATIVITY IN CHILDREN R2 Learning Story- Outdoor Parachute Play This morning we finally got chance to go play outdoors as the rain stopped. Mariam asked, “Can we play a game?” This question was discussed between educators and children. Children are suggested name of games we can play. Zakia said can we play “chasing”. Fatima said “duck, duck, goose. Fatima said can we play with Parachute. ADD PICTURE Fatima, Wissam, Mariam, Zakia empty PARACHUTE on the floor Further discussion we decided to play with Parachute. Once we had the Parachute ready we discussed the rules of the game. Children and Miss Berna were shaking and moving the parachute up and down and side to side. ADD PICTURE Ball inside We than added some balls inside the parachute moving the parachute up and down shaking the parachute as they shook the parachute we counted how many times we could move the parachute before any balls fell off. This activity went really well e ducators provided opportunities for children to participate in group discussions and shared decision making about rules and expectations. Educators participated physical play with children whilst co-constructing rules and expectations for play that initiated from their own ideas. Everyone engaged in enjoyable interactions using verbal and non-verbal language and contributed their ideas in this play. Children enjoyed playing with parachute game it helped them gross motor skills as they are moving and shaking the parachute they are moving their body as well. Parachute strengthen shoulder, arm, and hand muscles. My observation to extend children develop skills though play I can put colourful balls inside the parachute and discuss the colours and count with them how many balls inside the parachute. This EYLF outcome links to Outcome 1: CHILDREN HAVE A STRONG SENSE OF IDENTITY Show interest in other children and being part of a group Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials This activity went really good as we put colourful balls inside the parachute we discussed the each colour of the ball and counted one at a time to see how many balls we have inside the ball though play children were encouraged to lean their colours and numbers.
