HISTORY/IMPORTANCE OF CSWE The Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) was established in 1952. According to Rubin and Waterman (2023), CSWE ensures a well- educated social work profession. CSWE has supported quality social work education It has provided opportunities for professional development and leadership.
COMPETENCY 1: DEMONSTRATE ETHICAL AND PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIORS I implemented core values such as integrity and dignity. I learned that social workers should use self-regulation and reflection to manage their personal values. I demonstrated professionalism when I held a meeting with a client who had experienced domestic violence. During the meeting, I kept note of my thoughts and behaviors and reflected on how my personal assumptions affected by personal conduct. I learned that social workers should also use consultation and supervision to guide professional behavior and judgment. Social workers should remove their personal biases from interactions with clients.

COMPETENCY 2: ENGAGE DIVERSITY AND DIFFERENCE IN PRACTICE The value gained through my education was respect for diverse people. Embracing diversity enables social workers to become better at what they do. During my internship, I worked with several ladies who came from different backgrounds. I discussed cultural values and their impacts on clients with my supervisor. I learned that social workers should familiarize themselves with the beliefs and practices of various cultural groups. Social workers should learn how to be culturally sensitive ( Hugman 2020) .
COMPETENCY 3: ADVANCE HUMAN RIGHTS, SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE I gained the values of service and social justice. I learned that some clients are likely to face discrimination and oppression. I worked with an international client who had been denied a driving license. Working with her made me realize that the rights of various individuals might be abused. I advocated for the social justice and human rights of the client by contacting a legislator about the issue.
COMPETENCY 4: ENGAGE IN PRACTICE-INFORMED RESEARCH AND RESEARCH-INFORMED PRACTICE The values I gained are scientific inquiry and use of informed practices. I did research to help a client facing depression and anxiety. I did also research to help the client understand how to stay motivated. I read journal articles and used evidence-based methods to help the client. I learned that social workers should always use research evidence to inform practice.

COMPETENCY 6: ENGAGE WITH INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, GROUPS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND COMMUNITIES Social workers should demonstrate empathy as they engage diverse clients. I showed great empathy to a client whose grandmother was dying. I also used interpersonal skills to discuss financial plans with clients. Social workers should value the principles of interprofessional collaboration and relationship-building.

I worked together with a social worker to create a survey for clients to start mandatory group sessions. I learned how to assess the challenges, needs, and strengths of clients. I realized that social workers should be able to collect and interpret client data ( Farkas et al.2020 ).
