Wk5 Assignment President Oaks Teach a Friend Bryce Campbell REL 333 18 May 2023 W05 Assignment: President Oaks Teach a Friend The individual's name who you taught: TJ The method of instruction that you used: One-on-one conversation The principles or doctrines that you taught: I taught about President Oaks' life and how he has had an impressive career as a lawyer, law professor, and judge. He has served as a justice on the Utah Supreme Court and as a professor at the University of Chicago Law School and Brigham Young University Law School. President Oaks's teachings are grounded in scripture and emphasize the importance of living a Christ-centered life. He has spoken on a variety of topics, including religious freedom, family, and the role of women in the Church. Insights you gained as you taught : As I taught TJ, he was impressed by President Oaks's legal career and his service in the Church. He was particularly interested in how President Oaks's legal expertise has influenced his teachings on religious freedom. TJ appreciated learning about President Oaks's emphasis on scripture study and living a Christ-centered life. He felt that these teachings were relevant to his own life and helped him better understand how to apply gospel principles in his daily activities. As I taught TJ, I gained a deeper appreciation for President Oaks's leadership and service. I was reminded of the importance of studying the scriptures and striving to live a Christ-centered life. Another important insight I gained from President Oaks life was to do something if you feel like it will bring meaningful joy. He had a very successful career in what he did and he found joy and satisfaction in doing it as well. It shows that with the Lord on our side and as we remain faithful to our covenants, we have the power to
do great things in this life for ourselves and especially those around us. Including both personal and professional capacities.
