Margo Frossard 11/29/21 How to have Friendship with God Pastor Greg Laurie speaks on the idea of having a friendship with God and how we can achieve that. The biblical reference that he uses throughout the sermon is Moses. Describing how Moses had a strong relationship with God, in a way of friendship. One of the main points about how we know that Moses had a friendship with God was that he could ask things of God. With our friends on earth, we ask them to go do things, help us out, seek advice, etcetera. In the same way, Moses as God for three things. Greg Laurie listed out that the three things Moses asked of God were, he asked the Lord for divine direction, asked for confirmation, and finally he prays for the glory of God to be revealed. The first question of divine direction talks about praying that the will of God and the wisdom that gives would be revealed. The second question of confirmation talks about how God will look favorably down on us. Then finally, because of their friendship Moses asks to see God. These prayers give us insight into how we should be praying and have a friendship with God. Pastor Laurie talks about how we give up on prayers and make them about ourselves when rather, we should trust God and his will for our lives. The insights that I’ve gained through Greg Laurie’s sermon have been a new way of looking at prayer and also how we should seek God. This new insight to prayer is just how talking to Him should not just be asking God for things but rather seeking those answers from Him because he’s a trusted friend and powerful enough to. I want to apply this to my life by being in constant prayer through the day and being in constant commination. Starting my day with, dear God, and ending it with, amen. Margo Frossard 11/19/21 The Seven Habits of a Godly Life Pastor Charles Stanley goes over seven habits of a Godly lifestyle. First by defining what a habit is as, recurring and an often-unconscious pattern of behavior. Then by defining a Godly life as, no longer seeking satisfaction through sin. Following those definitions, paster Stanley lists and talks about the seven habits of a Goldy life. Those seven habits are life of prayer, trust or faith, meditation on the word of God, obey God, dependence on the Holy Spirit, giving to God and others, and forgiving others. Just like the seven spiritual dimensions, these seven habits cover all parts of our lives in order to live fully for Christ. When pastor Charles Stanley talked about how we should be giving to God and others, he talks about how him mom, from a young age, would give him change for offerings. Leading him to give a dollar once he got his first job and faithfully giving to God since. The one habit that I felt most convicted of and where I gained the most insight was the habit of giving to God and others. I let myself use the excuse of being a broke college student to justify why I’m not giving my resources to God when I feel him calling me to. But the one main insight I gained was from his story, how its not really about how much you give but rather forming that habit and following how God calls us to live. Just a few cents is enough until I have an income and can give more. I want to start applying this habit into my life by giving a weekly offering of even a few cents and more checking where my heart is at as well as having money set aside to use where God is calling me to. I also want start praying about giving and finances, to see where God wants me to do with the resources that he has given me.
