Your instructor will grade you according to the grading rubric in the assignment in your course. When referencing a passage, include the citation and paste the actual passage into your response. If the passage is long, just cite it and abbreviate or summarize it so the reader knows what the passage is about but it doesn’t take up too many lines on this report. Note - boxes will expand as you type Describe your experience: Provide a thoughtful reflection of your experience. What gospel principle from this week’s lesson did you teach? Include specific quotes or references to scripture or prophetic teachings that you used. How did it go? How did you feel while teaching and afterward? What reaction or feedback did you receive? What teaching methods did you use (thought-provoking question, discussion, game, object lesson, video, other method)? This week, I had the opportunity to teach the gospel principle of enduring trials and relying on the Savior. I focused on how the Savior's strength helped Him overcome challenges and how we can draw strength from Him in our own lives. I referenced several scriptures and prophetic teachings to illustrate this principle, including 2 Nephi 31:17, 2 Nephi 31:11, D&C 121:7-8, and a quote from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's talk "A High Priest of Good Things to Come" (October 1999 General Conference). The teaching experience was a mixture of vulnerability and support. My friend and I opened up to each other about our struggles, doubts, and the times we felt like giving up. We shared personal experiences, testimonies, and scriptural examples of individuals who endured trials and found strength in the Savior. The feedback I received was positive, with both of us feeling strengthened and inspired by our discussion. During our conversation, I used a variety of teaching methods, including thought-provoking questions, open discussion, personal experiences, and relevant examples from the scriptures and prophetic teachings. This allowed us to explore the gospel principles together, making the lesson more meaningful and relatable. We also discussed practical ways to apply these principles in our daily lives, such as prayer, scripture study, and seeking support from our church community. Describe the insights you gained:
What did you learn from this experience about being a teacher of the gospel? What deeper insights or understanding of the principle(s) being taught did you gain from teaching the principle(s) to another person? Through this experience, I gained valuable insights about being a teacher of the gospel. I learned the importance of compassion, patience, and empathy when teaching others. Being open and genuine in our conversations can help create a safe environment where both the teacher and the learner can grow spiritually. Additionally, I learned that effective teaching involves using a variety of methods to engage learners and make the principles relatable and applicable to their lives. Furthermore, teaching the principle of enduring trials and relying on the Savior deepened my understanding of the importance of turning to Christ during difficult times. As we share these principles with others, we not only strengthen their faith but also reinforce our own testimony and commitment to following the Savior's example. This experience reminded me that, despite the challenges we face, we can find solace and strength in our faith, and that the Heavenly Father is always there to guide and support us. It also highlighted the need for continued spiritual growth, personal introspection, and reliance on the Savior to overcome trials and temptations in our lives.
