Discussion Thread- Who Do You Say I Am Theology 313 As a Christian, I believe and view Jesus Christ as the Son of God, Son of Man, Lord, and Messiah. He existed from the beginning and was sent under the Father’s authority to do His will and glorify the Father in all that He does. In John 8:28-29, Jesus’ identity and purpose is explained : So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man on the cross, then you will understand that I AM He. I do nothing on my own but say only what the Father taught me. And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him .” Jesus Christ came down from Heaven and became incarnate so that He could become be crucified for all mankind’s sins. He suffered and was buried and on the third day He rose again. He ascended to Heaven and sits at the right of the Father, and He shall return to Earth to come for His bride, the church of believers, who will ascend with Him to Heaven. He shall return one final time to defeat Satan by throwing him into a lake of fire for all eternity and Jesus shall reign forevermore. Revelation 21:6-7 exclaims: “And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” In light of current perspectives regarding Jesus Christ, we can move forward with a Biblical perspective regarding the person of Christ by worshiping, praying, singing and glorifying Him. We become the light and salt to the world. We fear Him with reverence. We serve Him. We love and obey Him. Matthew 22:37 and Deuteronomy 6:5 states that we must “Love the Lord our God with all of our heart, all of our mind and all of our soul.” Author Bowman writes: “…The New Testament teaches us not merely to think about Jesus as God in an abstract, theological way, but to respond to him as our God. We are to honor him by submitting to him as our God in worship and spiritual service. We are to honor him by our words, by speaking to him as our God in praise and prayer. Moreover, we are to honor him as God with our whole lives, living for him in faith, reverence, love, and obedience.” Bowman Jr., Robert M. and J.
