Discussion Thread- The Inerrancy of Scripture -Bible 360
Inerrancy can simply be defined as “no error.” Before we can believe that the Scriptures are
inerrant, we must look at its author and be able to define Him as being inerrant. God is without
any error, and He is TRUTH. John writes the words of Jesus saying, “God is True” (John
1:14,3:33, 7:28, 8:26, 17:3, 17:17). Because God is true and inerrant, His word must also
inerrant. Truth is the doctrine at the heart of our faith.
“
Scripture did not come from the will of
man; it came from God. And if it is God’s word then it must all be true, for in him there can be
no error or deceit.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 states:
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to
teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we
are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do
every good work.”
God’s words, The Scriptures, isn’t misleading. It isn’t error. It isn’t false. It is true and it is the
behavior and attitude that God wills.
God-guided authors wrote the Scriptures as they were led
by the Holy Spirit. Peter, an eyewitness to the Son of God, Jesus Christ, wrote in 2 Peter 1:19b-
21:
“You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a
dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shine in your hearts.
Above all,
you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding,
or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from
God.”
“God spoke His Word through direct revelation to the authors who wrote down the
words.”

God has revealed Himself in His Word. As we read it, research it, hide it in our hearts and allow
it to guide us; it will teach us who God is and the revelation that He is indeed infallible, inerrant,
and verbal. As God reveals Himself, our songs should be as David wrote in Psalm 119:1-8:
Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the Lord.
Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil,
and they walk only in his paths.
You have charged us
to keep your commandments carefully.
Oh, that my actions would consistently
reflect your decrees!
Then I will not be ashamed
when I compare my life with your commands.
As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should!
I will obey your decrees.
Please don’t give up on me!
