In this passage of scripture, John writes what God is speaking concerning the church of Laodicea. “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked” Revelation 3: 15-17. As a participant of the “Monday Musings” Bible study group, I would like to state that an understanding of the original context of a biblical passage is important to its proper interpretation. Being so that we will not be wavier in our understanding. First, I do not agree with
Daniel’s interpretation. I do not think the scripture is saying lukewarm believers make God sick.
However, what I think about this passage of scripture is that God is telling the church of Laodicea they do not show love for Him, nor do they show interest in living for Him, but they are only concerned about their worldly gains. The church of Laodicea does not recognize God for the things they possess. It seems like they have obtained all these things on their own; Thereby disrespecting God by not honoring Him or giving Him credit for what they own. Their lukewarmness means double-minded and lack of faith, which causes them to be distant or separated from God. This church has no spiritual value but only value their wealth.
Laodicea focuses on material gain. Their minds are far from God and the most important things. Laodicea is not thinking about what will happen to them when the Lord returns. Lukewarm is a form of disgusting taste.

In my thoughts, God spitting them out of His mouth means God’s will reject them in Heaven as they have rejected Him on earth. Although the church of Laodicea has rejected God, He is still giving them another opportunity to repent and receive Him into their hearts and become a part of
the family of God.
The scripture says that God is before all things. “For in him all things were created: things in Heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy” Colossians 1:16-18. Since God created all things, how can the church of Laodicea feel so comfortable possessing all those things without receiving God into their lives? They are indeed out of the will of God. “God
is present in the new Testament. The Bible’s words are God’s words. A stirring recent book underscoring this is Words of Life: Scripture as the Living and Active Word of God.”
