Good Evening Everyone, To begin, the four different models of Mental Health and Mental Disorders are as follows: behavioral, medical, humanistic, and psychoanalytic. The first model discussed is the behavioral model. The behavioral model is the alternate model to the medical model. The utilization of therapy for the behavioral model is based on the methodology of behavior alteration by using specific forms of behavior therapy. The person is watched in how they exhibition their personality. Moritsugu et, al., 2014). The next model is the medical model. Which focuses on the social welfare of a person’s physical issues and how the medical aspect of it can be treated using the past and present information that has been collected. Actually, the belief of the community psychology movement of the past is where the notion of prevention of physical health concerns first arose. (Shultz et., al, 1977). The next model, the humanistic approach looks at the entire individuals in a psychological assessment. The person is looked at on their humanistic behavior and how that in turn makes them behave. A community psychologist looks at the humanistic model as being founded on the initial ideologies of existential-humanistic psychology (Moritsugu et, al., 2014). The final model to discuss is the psychoanalytic model. Which utilizes the psychiatric therapy which originated with Sigmund Freud. This model looks at things such as dream interpretation which is exploring a person’s unconscious instincts, and inner conflicts. I personally do not see how a community psychologist would use this model. However, the psychoanalytic model is not a measurable guideline to the given assumption in which a person’s behaviors are influenced by a set background (Moritsugu et, al., 2014). Now all of that being said, a community psychologist should recognize the significance of identifying that early prevention within a community can have more efficiency. This is where, in my opinion, the medical model would be the better approach to utilize to better serve individuals with mental health issues by creating early intervention programs.
