Personally I have hit a point in my life where I am just starting my actual career in life. I am currently serving as a school director which was one of my career goals coming out of college and in my life in general. My Professional goal in life in the next 5-7 years is to open my own business and be my own boss. I would like to open a business that Soley focuses on children in the foster care system who do not have a future of reuniting with their families. There is a large need for individuals who care about the children in the foster care system and putting them in the position to succeed in life in general when there is no hope for them to go back to their families. This is my long term goal but the steps that I plan to take in order to achieve these goals is, Be a teacher which I have been for 6 years, and work my way up inside of my company which I have been doing. I will stay in my current position as the School Director and help to make an impact on the communities that we currently serve which is low income families, dealing with poverty and often times housing and food insecurities. I will continue to serve these families in my community for as long as I can until I have achieved the goal of increasing the value of education in my community. Because I am currently in alignment with my current life goals it makes it difficult to make a complete in dept timeline that demonstrates what I hope to achieve and by when because I have just achieved my career goals and I am happy with the new position that I am in right now and do not forsee myself leaving anytime soon. While I am in my current position I seek to change the workplace culture to align it with the needs of the children that we serve each day. In my current position i look to create a welcoming environment, where children come each day to learn and grow while placing and emphasis on the importance of education inside of the classroom. My leadership style is very laid back but to the point. My employees are beginning to learn what they can and can not get away with in the workplace due to the
boundaries that I set with them. I am the type of leader that at first people could not really read me and they didn’t really come speak with me but as time has gone on and I've shown my silly personality I have began to notice that the environment is more laxed and feels inviting, safe and comfortable. Alot of my employees are my age or older which sometimes it is hard to manage people who are your age, but I find it easy and that I get to gain more personal connections and relationships which has helped me as a leader. My older workers teach me how to manage nonsense effectively when I need support. As an emerging leader, I am learning how important relationship building is and being a servant leader, which is what I am trying to manage currently.
