Prenatal Development 2 Prenatal Development The three stages of prenatal development are, germinal, embryonic and fetal. The physical changes that occur in the germinal stage include; the division of the zygote in order for it to be able to implant in the uterine wall. For the embryonic stage, the physical change include: the formation of organs such as the spinal cord, brain, head and limbs ( Shamshaddinovna et al., 2023). For the fetal stage, the physical changes are the growth of major body system, eyelashes and fingernails. The intimacy vs. isolation stage by Erikson’s best explains where am currently at in the developmental stage of my life. This is because, in this stage, I am trying to make romantic relationships and at the same time curl back into isolation if I fail to initiate a romantic relationship. The stages in Master’s and Johnson’s model of sexual arousal include; excitement, plateau, orgasm and resolution. The physiological changes in excitement include; the increase in muscle tension. For plateau stage, the change includes; the increase and stabilization of the heart rate. The physiological changes in orgasm include; the rhythmic contractions of muscles in the vagina and uterus. For the resolution stage, the body gradually returns to its normal functions ( Wang et al., 2023). The sympathetic nervous system is mainly in full effect in the first three stages of sexual arousal while the parasympathetic nervous system is in full effect in the resolution stage of sexual arousal. Intrinsic motivation is the motivation that is derived from within while extrinsic is derived from external factors. I would encourage students to learn course material through the motivations by highlighting the benefits they stand to get if they do so.
