I was interested in the idea you presented where Donald would reduce his anxiety using breathing techniques. I found an interesting article where students with test anxiety were given a device called CalmiGo. I had never heard of this type of device, apparently there are other biofeedback devices that give biofeedback of lights, sounds, or vibrations when they are exhaled into. Something like this would be helpful if a client is unable to grasp breathing exercises to reduce anxiety. This study used a specific measure for test anxiety (Rosenberg et al., 2021). I think your second goal could be broken into two goals. Donald is measuring the impact of breathing techniques and positive self-talk by keeping a journal and then scaling the severity of his symptoms. Do you think he should measure the impact of using the skills together or separately? If both of the skills, breathing and self-talk are new to Donald maybe he would want to chose to focus on one skill at a time? Source: Rosenberg, A. & Hamiel, D. (2021).
