Activity Plan No. 1 Name: Sensory Exploration - Discovering Textures PIN: SES-001 Date and Time of Plan: 3-09-2023 9 p.m. Child identifier (e.g. “Child A”): Child’s age: 9 Months Resources: Soft fabric squares Wooden blocks Furry toys Sponges Smooth plastic toys Describe how you will provide an enabling environment: We're going to set up a cozy and secure play area with pillows and a soft blanket. To ensure safety, the items will be kept out of the child's mouth but yet within reach. Aim The purpose of this practice is to support the child and caregiver's continuous shared thought while also fostering sensory development. It supports the aim of the EYFS Framework, which is to promote social, emotional, and personal development. Your role/role of others The teacher's job is to encourage curiosity by handling and discussing the textures. The caregiver's job is to engage in interactive play with the kid, assisting with texture exploration and description. For the youngster, both provide a secure and stimulating environment. Differentiation When assisting youngsters with special needs, provide them tactile help by giving them advice by hand. Make sure all materials are hypoallergenic and suitable for kids with allergies or sensitivities. Description of play activity/opportunity The items are arranged close by while the kid and carer sit together on the plush blanket. Feel how soft this is, the teacher remarks, picking up a piece of soft cloth. Do you sense it as well?" The carer does the same, pointing out the fabric's texture and encouraging the kid to touch it. The kid is encouraged to investigate textures and express their emotions with movements, noises, and smiles as this process progresses with different materials.
By asking, "What do you think about this texture?" the carer encourages persistent shared thought while reflecting the child's replies. Reflection- Reflect on own role in relation to the provision for supporting personal, social and emotional development in own setting This exercise has shown me how important it is to provide newborns a secure and engaging environment in which to explore. To assist a child's cognitive and sensory development, it is essential to watch the child's reactions, provide open-ended inquiries, and model interactions. I've also determined that more training is necessary to modify activities for kids with a variety of requirements.
