Report
Thomas Jefferson a man of his word, a man that want to decrease the burden of the American citizen and a man that stands by his belief in God. He believes in the unity of our great nation and insist though we may differ in opinions we do not differ in principle (The Election of 1800). The voice of the people is extremely important to our great nation’s success. Republicans want to hear our opinions and want the people to rule more directly through their governments. They also believe that the government needs to be “broadly accountable” to the people of this great country. Do we really want to risk the future of our government to an individual that favors pro-Britain legislation and believes that the government knows what is best for the people. Adams will lead to an uncontrolled government, an attack on individual rights, new taxes and spending to support federal action. The Federalist Party looks to have a strong federal authority to suppress the majorities (Locke, J. and Wright). They believe that they should keep the people at a distance and listen from a far, they believe they know what best for us Americans. Remember how our life was under British rule, the Federalist Party and John Adams wants to keep our tie to the British with the “Jay Treaty.” This treaty is too pro-British, no longer do we want to be under British Influence. This makes the only logical choice voting for the Republican Candidate Thomas Jefferson (Mobile Library). Locke, J. and Wright, B. (Eds.) (2015). The Market Revolution, The American Yawp.
