Use the methods covered during class. Question 1 – Ratios I (10 Points): If our Sun were the size of a basketball (22cm) wide, what would the distance from the Sun to Saturn be? The distance to Saturn is 1,500,000,000 km, the size of the Sun is 1,400,000 km, 23,571cm First I divided 1,500,000,000km by 1,400,000km and got 1,071 and then multi- plied that by 22cm and got 23,571cm. Question 2 – Ratios II (10 Points): If our galaxy were 1m wide, what would the distance to the An- dromeda Galaxy be? The distance to Andromeda Galaxy is: 2.4 x 10 22 m (or 24,000,000,000,000,000,000 km), and the size of our galaxy is: 9.5 x 10 20 m (or 950,000,000,000,000,000 km) 25.26m All I did was divide 2.4x10^22 by 9.5x10^20 and got 25.26 meters.
