Reflect on how your philosophy of education or worldview of education has developed throughout your preparation program.
I have found that my philosophy of education has grown and changed throughout my preparation program. Before starting my school counseling program, I viewed education as something to strive towards and achieve at the highest level possible Something that, no matter what, was always the most important thing. My perspective has changed since I began my program because I believe I now have a better understanding of the impact and sympathy for the struggles that kids are facing.
I have also found that my worldview has grown and changed which I believe has impacted a change within my philosophy. My worldview affects my day-to-day life and everything in it. It gives me a blueprint of who I used to be, what I am now, who I aspire to be, and how I perceive and relate to others.
I have seen first-hand how education is not just about grades and graduation, it is about personal and social growth that gives students the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in all areas of their lives. However, with that kind of growth comes a need for nurturing and support. Every student can grow and thrive with the right guidance and support, but they will wither and wilt if they are surrounded by negativity and neglect that affects all aspects of their lives.
