EXPERIENCE WITH THEOLOGY ESSAY ASSIGNMENT Megan Schuttloffel Liberty University Theo 104 Dr. J. Steven Davis March 3 rd , 2024
When I hear the word Theology, my mind goes to the Bible and God, I also think of the Greeks because of the leading word “Theo”. Theology is a way to study God, and his word; there are many ways to incorporate Theology. God loves us unconditionally and nobody knows the Bible better than God. No matter our religion we always try to dig deeper in the meaning of learning about God and understand his creativity better. Biblical theology is a good thing, it is the teaching of Gods word. With the teaching of God’s word comes faith, faith is how a person believes in something that you can not see or touch, but you know is there. I have never studied Theology before, learning the ins and outs of this concept will be a challenge. Every day we are practicing and experiencing theology whether we realize it or not. I have not had much experience with the study of theology. Growing up I knew there were different steps to theology, because that’s what the Church told me. As a child Church was very important to my family, as soon as I was able to read, I was given a Bible with my name engraved on the front. I grew up Lutheran, as a child I attended Church regularly, I was on my Church’s Biblical competition team and traveled with them, as I got older and busier I didn’t attend as much. Even though I’ve lost touch with God over the years, conversations with consistent believers have led me to believe that God is still the same. God is universal, I understand that he is the Father of Creation. The Bible is a road map to our lives and the way we live every day; when God created humans, he made us in his image, and he gave us the ten commandments to abide by not for use to take away from the Bible but to use the Bible as a tool of living.
Even though I have lost touch a little with God I still turn to him in a time of need to look for guidance. While taking this class, I hope to be more in touch with spirituality in theology and I also hope I can learn why and how theology is connected to God. As I get older, I want to understand the concept of going to church. I want to understand why there are different religions and why each one interprets the Bible differently. I want a better understanding on what theology is, why people study it, and how it’s connected to our everyday lives. I believe the course will push me and encourage me to want to be more aware of other religions and God and what I do with my choices. While taking this class I’m going to keep and open mind and take in the information that I am learning, I am excited to study theology and hope to gain more knowledge on why it is so important to so many people around the world.
