XXXXXX CHFD220/Human Sexuality Ethical Dilemma Professor June 28, 2019 There are two topics that I have learned that usually results in heated discussions. Everyone has very different views about politics and religion. Those discussions lead to disagreements and arguments. Today we see both of these issues along with many others being debated by the federal government. Our government makes laws based on their understanding of ethics that impact the lives of every American citizen. Ethics are defined as “involving systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior.” (Webster’s Dictionary). Ethics play a vital role in our everyday decision-making processes, and they also shape our belief systems. Numerous Americans have medical coverage through their managers, with an extremely wide range joined to what the protection can be utilized for, including conception prevention. The Affordable Care Act was made to help Americans who did not have protection, since they could not manage the cost of it, were working for a business who did not offer it, or had a previous condition, such huge numbers of insurance agencies denied them inclusion. Alongside the Affordable Care Act endeavoring to fix these issues, it ordered a lot of things for suppliers that were constrained on huge numbers of them, to incorporate, inclusion for contraceptives. Numerous schools inside the United States, do not offer medical coverage to their understudies, which is reasonable. The same number of them have a great many understudies enlisted every year.
For Wheaton College, what they offered was something that was a great addition to enrollment, however, once the Affordable Care Act commanded something that was against their convictions, it bodes well why they would dispose of the wellbeing inclusion overall. Wheaton College is a Christian College, which was established by outreaching abolitionists in 1860. With the convictions that this school was based on, not having the option to help the obligatory police of the Affordable Care Act to give conception prevention inclusion, is one that violates the school religious standards. Organizations, for example, Hobby Lobby, furnish protection inclusion to their workers except for inclusion for anti-conception medication. Employees have the choice of acquiring individual protection. Anti-conception medication isn't a medicinal services issue. Sex is a personal choice, and an employer should not be required to support the sexual practices of employees. The company has every right to dictate how the insurance they provide can be used. In June 2014, the Supreme Court decided that family possess business did not bring to the table their representative prophylactic inclusion that contention with the proprietor's convictions. The government Religious Freedom Restoration Act shielded businesses from offering inclusion. The morals of life are chiefly overseen by the standards of religion and that of ethical quality. Forcing a contradicting law, for example, the prophylactic order in the Obama Care disregards a portion of the essential opportunities as in the constitution. Free-exercise of religion proviso of the First Amendment of the U. S constitution plunges a stage for Religious Freedom Restoration Act. As held in Burwell v. Leisure activity Lobby case, the preventative command is a convincing government enthusiasm since it is sans cost to residents yet the administration has not given the least prohibitive methods for encouraging the intrigue (DeBoer, 2015). This suggests religious convictions must be regarded and prophylactic order willfully be pursued therefore the withdrawal of benefit and non-benefit associations be regarded.
Religious opportunity for this situation is seen by most rivals as a square to other outsiders rights yet in a non-benefit making association; the proprietors reserve a privilege to decrease from political and lawful arrangements, for example, the contraceptives command (McClain, 2015). I believe these companies are being ethical, to the definition of ethical, which is morally good or correct. I feel these organizations are spot on track with what the proprietor's conviction is moral for their organization. Certain religions accepts, for example, Catholic and Christian don't support providing conception prevention. Not every person will concede to very similar things throughout everyday life. That is the thing that makes living in this nation so cool. Everybody has the opportunity to practice their religious convictions. The government should not force the popular belief system upon any company for the sake of winning votes. That is one of the biggest examples of an " Ethical Dilemma ."
