1)
In your own words,
define Dr. Zimbardo's concept of "the Lucifer Effect"?
*This does
not need to be a full paragraph response.
Dr. Zimbardos concept of “the Lucifer Effect” is like Lucifer, who was once one of gods
favorite angels in heaven, people who are socially deemed “good” can cross over the
line and become “bad” and vice versa.
2) List the seven (7) social processes that, according to Dr. Zimbardo, "grease the
slippery slope of evil".
*This does not need to be in complete sentences.
Mindlessely taking the first small step, dehumanization of others, deindividualization of
self, diffusion of personal responsibility, blind obedience to authority, uncritical
conformity to group norms, and passive tolerance of evil through inaction or
indifference.
2) Which* of these social processes do you think you
personally
might be most
susceptible to and why (i.e., which process would be most likely to influence you)?
The social process that I believe is most likely to influence me is passive tolerance of
evil through inaction or indifference. I am the type of person to just stick to myself and
keep my head down so in the event that I witness something bad happening I can not
say for sure that I would speak up or try to help. I would do anything for another person
(within reason) but I don’t usually offer my help unless it is asked of me.
