What do you believe to be the major distinctions in their personal assumptions, beliefs, and values?
There are many differences between Zinn’s and Schweikart’s personal assumptions, beliefs, and values. Zinn believed the government and the police are bias and not for the people. He believed all people which included the minorities should have a voice. Schweikart is a bit old-
fashioned and saw free trade and limited government involvement is fundamental to a successful economy. What do you believe to be the major distinctions in their interpretations of history?
Zinn appears to be more open minded and really speaks from his experiences and believes that
the world could be better with simple solutions. Schweikart seems to be speaking on more of a personal level about what he feels and believes and why they are to be that way. Do you notice any biases? If so, what are they?
Yes, I believe part of the bias is that Zinn does not hide that he is telling history from the view
of a common working person and why he explains things the way he does. He believes that most average American histories are told from the point of view of the wealthy and powerful people in the U.S. History is biased because of that he thinks. And that they have softened the struggle and suffering of African Americans. Native Americans, women, immigrants, the poor, children and others that weren’t named in order to show how successful America is.
