Reflection essay assignment Accounting Associate, Liberty University THEO104_ B10: Introduction to Theology survey Professor: Thomas Powell October 13 th , 2023
To be honest, this has been a pleasant experience going over what the real meaning of theology is. During this course, at the very beginning, I can say that my knowledge was limited, and my viewpoint was even more empty than one might say of the true meaning and importance of theology. My thoughts were just that theology was related to God because I used to hear my family members talk about an uncle who was an atheist, so I used to relate it somehow with theology. According to the dictionary, theology is the study of religious beliefs, practices, and experiences, particularly the study of God and God's relationship to the world (Merriam-Webster, 2023). So that relates to the impression that I received every time I heard theological subjects, even though I had no understanding of what they represented. Accordingly, the study of theology is the examination of God or words about Him (Gabriel Etzel and R.N. Small, 2016). It constitutes the study of sovereign self-revelation (p. 5). My viewpoint evolved once I stopped limiting the study of theology to speakers, ministers, and scholars. I have come to understand that we are all scholars who read and apply the inspired Word of God. Following Scripture by heart shows commitment and belief and working with Christ exalts His name and reveals His majesty. Understanding the Holy Scriptures strengthens the arguments we make against secular objections because it enables us to comprehend their purpose and principles. This insight emphasizes how crucial it is for us to grasp theology. From this course, I have been able to put into practice the love you acquire from reading and learning things that we heard and just took for granted. Recognizing how to read the Holy Scriptures effectively and getting insight from His words have been helpful. I now fully understand what is to dig into Scripture and obtain a better understanding from the inspired text.
This has given me the chance to develop better Bible reading patterns and additionally shown me how to comprehend everything I've been studying. The time I have spent learning more about the Bible and the quantity of understanding retained have both increased as a result. My understanding of my beliefs and how to support them with the Bible has improved because of this study. This will let me adopt a more forceful posture. I can pass on all the information I have learned during the duration of this course to people who are related to or close to me by talking. Through group Bible studies as well as instructing classes at the institution of faith, I expect to share what I have learned the knowledge learned. Getting to know better how to interpret the scriptures and their wisdom will be beneficial to a lot of people. What I learned throughout the course might change the followers of Christ and better their relationship with the Almighty. My kids might be able to comprehend their beliefs and the whys behind them, and I hope I’ll share the good news with them. Additionally, also will put into practice everything, so others get to know him and realize that Jesus Christ is who died for us on the cross. Reference Gabriel Etzel and R.N. Small (2016).
