Why does the so-called "Contribution Curve" embody the
trade-off relationship between equality and efficiency?
The “Contribution Curve” represents the trade-off relationship between equality and
efficacy, being that two different ideologies intersect and co-exist as a result of an
input/output. This concept is evidently shown when looking at the development of the
utilitarianism line and egalitarianism line on a graph until they reach the maxim point.
The maxim point, which is the point at which two points (egalitarianism and utilitarianism
in this case) meet, is reached as equality decreases and the rate of the curve increases.

What is the Rawlsian solution to the age-old question of
distributive justice?
Describe how it fares on 2-person
utility space in prescribing a solution, in comparison to
its rivalries, namely, Utilitarian and Egalitarian
Solutions?
According to Rawls, the age-old question of distributive justice can be determined by
weighing the extent of improvement reached in regards to those being helped by said
inequality. In other words, the maxim point on 2-person utility space shows that
unfortunate individuals can experience improvement as a result of distributive justice,
while the fortunate can be deprived of such resources and still maintain their previous
lifestyle.

Explain how Rawls tries to justify his solution in his
own "unique" version of contractarianism. Explain what
the following terms refer to:
(1) Original Position
(2) Veil of Ignorance
(3) Maximin Rule
(4) Difference Principle
The term “original position” refers to an individual’s inherent view of society. In this state,
individuals exhibit common sense and align oneself with traditional social norms, yet still
do not garner extensive/comprehensive understanding of experiences and concepts.
This may function as an easy route to the “veil of ignorance”, which is a state in which
an individual perceives the reality of themselves/their experiences in a completely
deluded form. This may serve as a form of self-protection. Furthermore, the “maxim
rule” is a choice mechanism which allows individuals to come up with and compare
different scenarios in order to choose the one that best maximizes the outcome. This
relates directly to “original position”, as according to Rawls, the “maxim rule” draws from
the “original position” to select principles of justice in decision-making. Finally, the
“difference principle” ties these terms together by stating that inequality is only justifiable
when the less-fortunate will benefit, thus lifting the societal veil of ignorance.

What is the most important assessment of human condition
by Rawls which is reflected in his argument called
"Justice as Fairness"?
The most important assessment of human condition is selfishness/greed, which is a
key role in the veil of ignorance. If an individual is aware of what they desire and what
they must do to get it, their principle of justice will be altered by the veil of ignorance in
order to justify immoral/selfish choices. This improves individual condition rather than
the maximized condition of society as a whole.
