In what ways is it important to view a biblical worldview as affecting your desires?
Having a biblical perspective has many effects on your desires. It may, first of all, mold your
priorities and values, making you want things that are consistent with biblical teachings. A
person with a biblical worldview, for instance, could place a high value on helping others and
want to have a positive influence on their neighborhood. Secondly, a biblical worldview can give
you a feeling of direction and significance, which might impact your aspirations to pursue
spiritual advancement and cultivate a connection with God. Finally, having a biblical worldview
may guide you in making moral decisions and decisions that are consistent with biblical
principles, which will inspire you to want to be honest and virtuous.
Have you ever experienced a conflict between what you know and what you desire?
I have experienced conflict between what I know and what I desire. I grew up in church and was
a pastor's kid. So I always wanted people to think I was cool. However, the things that people
thought were cool, were not things that were in line with the teachings of the Bible. Things like
cursing or sneaking out of service to do things. At first I did do it, however it was tearing up my
relationship with God. So I started to distance myself from the people that were encouraging me
to do those things. I had to remind myself of the truth and that I
just need be myself.
Examine some potential pitfalls in your worldview or even the worldview you see upheld around
you. How would you propose overcoming it?
Some of the “pitfalls” I see in clothing. For girls at least, clothes. Even Christian girls I have seen
wear inappropriate clothes because everyone around them does. They dress in a way that is not
modest and isn’t pleasing to the Lord. Things like super short skirts or inappropriate tops.. Even
those who say they have a Biblical or Christian worldview. I’m not saying everyone does this,
no, but some do. I would say that they could overcome this by thinking about what God would
think of what they are wearing. Would He approve of clothing that is not modest? I think it's
important to see what the Bible says about something before we do it.
