PHIL222
M4 Portfolio Project

Ethical consideration in end-of-life care.

In this article, supports my stand on the case study since it states that the purpose of end-
of-life care for dying patients is to minimize or eliminate pain while respecting the patient's
wishes. Yet, physicians encounter numerous ethical issues while providing end-of-life care.
Because the judgments to be made may affect both patients' family members and society, it is
critical to protect the rights, dignity, and vigor of all persons participating in the clinical ethical
decision-making process.
Also, this article is useful since it shows the importance of knowing the underlying
biomedical ethics which is critical for physicians to tackle challenges in end-of-life care. Plus,
states that decisions about resuscitation, mechanical breathing, artificial nourishment and
hydration, terminal sedation, delaying and withdrawing therapies, euthanasia, and physician-
assisted suicide pose the most ethical challenges for healthcare workers, and in the case study is
evident that this challenge is one that the physicians may face in their careers.

Deontological Ethics
. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy

In this resource, the information that I used to the definition of Deontological Ethics was
the approach that I used for the case study I chose for the portfolio project. The information that
this shows supports the reason for taking this as my approach for the project. The strength that
this article has is the complete definition of Deontological Ethics, showing that this supports the
position I made in the case study which is the deontological approach is the one I am embracing
because the reason for this is that I believe there is a simple solution to the problem. Honor the
father's wishes. In addition, everyone agreed that treatment was not beneficial.
