I believe there are a few major components to a Christian worldview. First is that
of the holy trinity. God the father God the son and The Holy Spirt. As Christians we must
believe that Jesus is God and God is Jesus.
“I and the father are one. “John 30:10
We
believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that only through him alone can we
be saved. “Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to
rescue us from this evil world in which we live.” Galatians 1:4 I also believe that a core
aspect of faith is your work as it is not what is required to get into heaven, but it is
evidence of your salvation. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10.
For my contemporary issue I picked the issue of morality. It is my opinion that it
is impossible to have absolute morality without the Bible and that relative morality is a
slippery slope. “Do moral inclinations emerge independently of religious intuitions?
These debates, which nowadays rumble on in scientific journals as well as in public life,
have frequently been marred by a series of conceptual confusions and limitations.”
(Mckay) 6. It is my belief that morality is something that exist because of religion,
specifically Christianity. As humans we often naturally want to do bad things, but we
have a general moral code. The problem with this is the question of, where did this code
come from? The most clear answer is the bible. The Bible sets very simple moral codes
that many people including atheist follow or accept are right.
Morality is a large part of the bible. The ten commandments are a very simple and
big example of this. “And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you
to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.”
Deuteronomy4:13. There have been some moral issues debated in recent time but the
bible gives clear answers. One being the recent rise of LGBTQ+. From a biblical
worldview we know this is wrong. “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of
them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is
upon them.” Leviticus 20:13. Now we need to look at this from multiple angles. We
know that we do not need to put these people to death today. We can also recognize that
this is a sin just like the sin we commit every day, and that forgiveness is possible.
Another issue discussed today is abortion, as Christians we know abortion is wrong in
every way and is murder. Every life is created in God’s image, this includes all life,
including at conception.
