A logical fallacy is when an argument appears valid or convincing but is flawed, This type of reasoning results in an unsupportable conclusion. Individuals may deliberately use logical fallacies to mislead others, or they may do so accidentally because of flawed reasoning. One article I found states that the COVID-19 vaccine was the cause of an autoimmune disease. https://theconversation.com/covid-19-increases-the-chance-of-getting-an-autoimmune- condition-heres-what-the-science-says-so-far-166819 This article shows casual fallacy since the writer states that one thing is the cause of another without facts. It is fallacious to say that receiving the COVID-19 vaccination can result in an autoimmune disorder because of the association between receiving a vaccine and an autoimmune condition. It is unlikely that the vaccination could result in autoimmunity because individuals infected with COVID-19 do not develop autoimmune disorders. Another article I found was about the president's promise of canceling student debt. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/23/biden-administration-believes- student-loan-forgiveness-plan-will-survive.html In this article he is using appeal to authority. Because he is the president of the United States, he continues to give the world false hope that they will have their debt forgiven since he has no one to challenge his claim. This is the same tactic he has used over the years with no proof that this will take place. While campaigning this was a post made to Twitter, showing the public that Clinton and Buffet had huge support from Omaha, while having very few people show up for them. They used an appeal to population fallacy. By giving the idea that they are the better option because they have a large following, they hope to win people over. In this Twitter post, you can see that they are staging a post using scare tactics to get to people, this is called the scare tactics fallacy. Appealing to fear is seen as fallacious since it
typically uses people's emotional anxieties as well as unfounded personal experiences to persuade them to accept unsupported conclusions. Fallacy can come in many forms and can be seen almost anywhere. When someone wants to reach an understanding, they frequently use fallacies. They start to value this objective more than applying reason. Fallacies can be defined by their lack of supporting evidence and can be illegitimate. Always look for the facts.
