Good post. I agree with your differential diagnosis of dehydration also. I think the weakened suck, dark urine, increase sleeping, and lack of output can be explained by dehydration (Vega & Avva, 2022). I definitely think this infant is dehydrated (Vega & Avva, 2022) . In this situation we are having to figure out what caused the infant to become dehydrated and that is where I agree with your main diagnosis of maple syrup urine disease. The maple syrup urine disease explains the other symptoms the infant is having such as sweet-smelling diapers. You mentioned getting genetic testing done for future pregnancy and I mentioned that also in my post because this is a genetic disease.
